What is laser hair removal?
Laser hair removal is a procedure that uses a laser or an intense, pulsating beam of light — to remove unwanted hair. During laser hair removal, a laser beam passes through the skin to hair follicles. The intense heat of the laser damages the hair follicle, which inhibits future hair growth. Unlike waxing, laser hair removal is permanent.
How many laser hair removal treatments will I need and how often?
Generally, most patients will require 6-8 treatments to experience 80% to 90% of permanent hair reduction. Treatments for facial areas are usually scheduled 4 weeks apart, while body areas are scheduled 6 weeks apart.
Is laser hair removal painful?
The light sheer system’s ChillTip helps reduce discomfort while protecting the skin surface. If sensitive areas are to be treated, a topical anesthetic cream may be applied to the site for added comfort. Immediately after laser hair removal treatment, the site will appear slightly red in color, and will feel like a mild sunburn. This reaction subsides within 20 minutes to a few hours depending on the individual.
Is laser hair removal permanent?
The FDA approved laser hair removal for permanent hair reduction.Most patients experience 80% to 90% of permanent hair removal. Due to hormones, touch-up appointments may be necessary after 6 sessions.
What results can I expect from laser hair removal?
With laser hair removal treatments you can expect significant permanent hair reduction to the point that temporary hair removal methods are seldom, if ever, are necessary. However, due to hormonal changes, hair color and skin tone, some clients may need a few additional treatments in order to achieve their personal level of desired results.
No use of depilatory creams or waxing in the few days prior to the treatment.
No bleaching of the hairs in the few days prior to the treatment.
No sunbathing for 2 weeks before the treatment.
Shave the area to be treated a few days before the treatment.
Post Treatment Care
Use SPF30+ sun screen daily and avoid any sunbathing for 4 weeks after the treatment.
No massage on the treated area within 4-5 days.
Must not press and scratch the treated area.
Use quality mineral make up and if possible avoid makeup for four to five days following treatment. The skin is sensitive during this period.
Take Vitamin C and Vitamin E to help with healing.
No eating hot and spicy food because the skin is sensitive during this period.
For hair removal, shave the hair between treatments if possible.
